Job and Volunteer Opportunities 
 

The Greater Washington College Info Center provides information and assistance about higher education opportunities to students and families throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Based in the Martin Luther King Memorial Library in Northwest DC, the Center serves as a central resource for gathering and disseminating information about college opportunities, with a special focus on outreach to low income, minority and immigrant groups. Our resources include over 150 print resources with college, career and financial aid information, computerized guidance information systems, 1200 college catalogs and numerous handouts and materials. Students and families are encouraged to visit the Center on a walk-in basis. 

Volunteer/Graduate Intern - College Advisor

Interns or volunteer advisors may:
  1. Provide basic information about college, career and financial aid opportunities to young people and their families.
  2. Assist visitors with using print and computerized resources to identify schools and programs that match their interests and needs.
  3. Assist visitors with the decision-making process, helping them evaluate options and determine appropriate choices.
  4. Facilitate brief orientation sessions for small groups of students to help them become familiar with CIC resources and services.
  5. Assist students with completing admission and financial aid applications. 
Qualifications: Experience and/or academic training in providing college, career and financial aid advising/counseling. Knowledge of and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. Ability to make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for 6 months. Bilingual skills a plus!
